Even though the hype about the General Data Protection Regulation subsided lightly: The business practice still faces many challenges for a practicable implementation of the GDPR requirements. Around 60 participants gathered in the rooms of OPPENLÄNDER on 22 October 2019 to exchange questions and experiences of the first 500 days with the GDPR and to discuss solution approaches.
The seminar focused on the topics direct marketing, googling applicants, video surveillance in companies and access to personal files. Furthermore, it was discussed how to deal with data breaches and which powers the supervisory authorities hold. In the ensuing panel discussion further interesting subjects were highlighted, including the supervisory authorities’ new fine model, mail advertising for similar products as well as the reform of the German Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG). After the official part, there was the possibility to continue discussions with food and drinks.
Due to the continuous interest, a succeeding event is envisaged for the next year. We gladly receive suggestions for present topics.
