Florian Schmidt-Volkmar was born in Stuttgart. He studied at the Universities of Bayreuth, Lausanne and Freiburg. He received his doctorate at the University of Freiburg under Prof. Dr. Joachim Bornkamm with an anti-trust thesis.

Florian Schmidt-Volkmar has worked as a lawyer since 2011. From 2012 to 2024 he was a lecturer at Hohenheim University. He is author of several publications and a member of the Study Association Antitrust Law.

Florian Schmidt-Volkmar advises on German and European antitrust law. His expertise covers the entire width of antitrust law. An emphasis of work consists in major cartel compensation complexes. He has comprehensive experience in representing both plaintiffs and defendants and therefore appreciates the difficulties of both sides. Florian Schmidt-Volkmar also advises regularly in complex abuse proceedings. In such proceedings, he has repeatedly defended clients, including in court, successfully vis-à-vis the anti-trust authorities.

In addition, Florian Schmidt-Volkmar is specialised on crisis and compliance advice. Besides his antitrust law expertise, he also covers criminal law-related issues in this context, inter alia the anti-corruption area. In crisis situations Florian Schmidt-Volkmar provides comprehensive support. That includes defense in financial penalty proceedings, rapid assistance in search situations and support in internal investigations. Florian Schmidt-Volkmar has special industry knowledge in the areas automotive, energy, telecommunications, steel and cosmetics.
