Tobias Gawaz was born in Stuttgart in 1993 and grew up near Tübingen. He studied in Freiburg and Krakau and is a lawyer at OPPENLÄNDER since 2022. He is a member of the Study Association Anti-trust Law e.V.

Tobias Gawaz advises and represents medium-sized and major companies in the various areas of antitrust law. That includes in particular advising on antitrust compensation proceedings, questions of market abuse and in the context of national and European mergers. In addition, he advises on antitrust law-compliant contract drafting. Tobias Gawaz is a lecturer at the EBS University Law School Wiesbaden.

OPPENLÄNDER defends DSGV against antitrust damages claims (EC-Cash)

OPPENLÄNDER represented the DSGV - Deutscher Sparkassen- und Giroverband (German Savings Banks and Giro Association) against dozens of plaintiffs in antitrust damages proceedings based on allegedly excessive EC cash fees. The Berlin Regional Court dismissed most of the claims in their entirety and awarded damages in only a few cases, which, however, amounted to a total of only 0.7% of the total claim asserted.
