Andreas Hahn was born in Berlin and qualified there between 1989 and 1991 as a bank official. After his studies in Berlin, he worked as research assistant at the Institute for German and European Commercial Law, Competition Law and Energy Law at the Free University of Berlin with Prof. Dr. Dr. Franz Jürgen Säcker. He also obtained his doctorate there with a thesis on European anti-trust law. After his admission as lawyer in 2001, Andreas Hahn worked initially at an international law firm in Berlin, London and Brussels before he joined OPPENLÄNDER Rechtsanwälte. He has more than 20 years’ experience in advising and problem solving in all areas of antitrust law. He is a member of the Study Association Cartel Law e.V. and of the Institute for Energy and Regulatory Law Berlin (enreg).

Andreas Hahn advises clients on all aspects of German and European antitrust law. The center of his advice is in complex merger control proceedings and antitrust proceedings and representation of companies in those areas before German and European antitrust authorities and courts. In particular, he has achieved a number of leading judgements in the course of defending clients in antitrust official abuse proceedings in court. In addition, he regularly advises clients on antitrust law compliant drafting of cooperation, distribution, R&D and license agreements and the introduction and implementation of antitrust compliance programs. One of his other specialties is in representing his clients in antitrust civil proceedings, in particular antitrust compensation claims. Together with his team, he has conducted many compensation claims, whether on the side of the defendant or plaintiff. Andreas Hahn advises clients from many industrial sectors (including pharmaceuticals, life science, retail, engineering and plant construction, construction materials) and has special industry knowledge in the financial services sector and in all energy and water industry areas.
He is also established as a lecturer at special conferences and author of many specialist publications, including the co-publication of „Rübenstahl/Hahn/Voet van Vormizeele, Cartel Compliance“. In addition, he comments on merger control issues in two leading commentaries on the Act against Unfair Competition and on energy law.
