Dr. Maximilian Stützel is part of the JUVE award-winning OPPENLÄNDER team with broad expertise in public law.

Maximilian Stützel comes from near Reutlingen and studied in Freiburg and Grenoble. He obtained his doctorate in Freiburg with a thesis on the nexus areas between international, constitution and European law. During that time he also worked as academic assistant at a Chair for Public Law with international focus.

Maximilian Stützel advises on various issues of public law. He has wide knowledge since even in his studies and practical training he concentrated on that legal area. He is particularly skillful in dealing with complex and unusual legal issues.

As a lawyer Maximilian Stützel acts especially for private companies and the public sector. Apart from administrative and constitutional law issues, he also deals in particular with European subvention law. His repertoire also includes classical areas such as construction and environmental law.

Dr Maximilian Stützel is a new associated partner at OPPENLÄNDER

Dr Maximilian Stützel was appointed Associate Partner of OPPENLÄNDER as of 15 May 2025. Maximilian Stützel started his legal career at OPPENLÄNDER Rechtsanwälte in 2021 and works in the Public Law team, specialising in European state aid law.

Action brought by Tedi and Woolworth – OPPENLÄNDER wins for the state of Baden-Württemberg

The Regional Court of Stuttgart has dismissed the claim for compensation by B.H. Holding GmbH (parent company of Woolworth and Tedi) in the amount of over 32 million euros.

Construction freeze lifted by the city of Heidelberg

OPPENLÄNDER attorneys Dr. Jens Ritter and Dr. Maximilian Stützel, both active in public building law, have overturned the city's decision to halt construction in the dispute over the use of the former "Fauler Pelz" prison in Heidelberg. The state can continue the redevelopment to enable the correctional system.

2G rule in retail remains in place

OPPENLÄNDER attorney Maximilian Stützel wins for the state. The Administrative Court rejects the urgent appeal of a shoe store in Mannheim against the 2G regulation for retailers. Since shoes are not part of the basic supply, only vaccinated and recovered people should continue to have access.
