ESG

The transformation of the economy towards greater sustainability in a balance of environmental, social and economic interests is one of the key challenges facing companies in the coming years. This transformation raises complex legal issues across different law areas. ESG is increasingly evolving from a pure risk management and compliance issue to a key fact in economic success. For some time now, compliance with sustainability standards has been a significant factor for business and investment decisions. However, ESG requirements also provide business opportunities, stimulate investment and create new areas of entrepreneurial activity. The reporting and regulatory requirements will continue to increase the importance of sustainable corporate governance.

Our interdisciplinary ESG team advises private companies of various specialisations and sizes, investors and shareholders, board members and the public sector in all relevant areas of ESG, in particular on environmental aspects under public law, aspects of state aid law, corporate governance, sustainability in target/remuneration agreements, ESG in M&A transactions, “green” antitrust law, competition law aspects of greenwashing, ESG components in corporate financing and so-called climate lawsuits.
